Raincloud Socks Design Journal
Inspiration:
Inspired by overcast skies and droplets of rain running down the window sill on a grey day, the Raincloud Socks are a fun way to keep warm during the weather. I wanted to create a piece that not only provides warmth but also showcases the beauty of intricate cable patterns. Whether for gifting or just treating yourself these creations embody the essence of handmade charm and thoughtful design!
Gauge:
30 sts and 40 rows in stockinette stitch. When swatching, make sure to cast on a few extra (35-40) sts to ensure that you can get a proper measurement, and always block your swatch!
Customisation:
One size does not fit all, and these blue cabled knit socks recognize the importance of individuality. The pattern allows for customisation, whether it's adjusting the length of the leg or personalising the fit. Knitters can add their unique touch by experimenting with different cable patterns or choosing a contrasting colour for the ribbing. The beauty of customisation lies in the hands of the creator, transforming a pair of socks into a truly personal masterpiece.
Yarn Substitutions
The yarn in my sample has been discontinued, so here are some suggestions of other yarns that you can use. Any fingering blend of 75% wool, 25% nylon should work fine, or some yarns my testers used are Cascade Heritage and Forest Fringe Yarn 80/20 Sock.
Styling Suggestions:
Whether you’re cuddling up at home with a book while the rain drizzles down the window or heading out on a morning walk, these socks have you covered! Wear around the house, or make a longer pair to wear with ankle boots to showcase the intricate cable pattern. The versatility of these socks extends beyond loungewear, making them a delightful addition to any fashion-forward wardrobe.
