Inspiration

This pattern was inspired by a crackling campfire and cool Autumn nights, perfect for snuggling in with a cosy cowl. I wanted to create a simple, minimalistic design that could be paired with any wardrobe.

Construction

This cowl has a super simple construction, it is knitted shortways to create a rectangle which is joined together at the end. There is a simple cable panel on the front that is perfect for beginner knitters wanting to improve their cabling skills!

Materials

This pattern uses just 80m of DK weight yarn - yes, you read that right! It is fantastic for stashbusting and using up odd balls or leftovers from big projects. I love DK weight - it is super beginner friendly as it is a medium weight that will look polished without taking hours to knit up! I used Four Seasons Montana in the colour Porcelain in my sample. Some similar yarns include Knit Picks City Tweed, Rowan Felted Tweed and Hedgehog Fibres Tweedy.
