Birdsong Tee Design Journal
Inspiration
Inspired by little critters chattering in a meadow, their songs carried on a Summer breeze, this top is a simple but elegant knit for warmer months. I wanted to create a design that was fully customisable, and so used a top-down circular yoke as the base of the design.
Construction
Knitted from the top down completely in the round, the simple stitch pattern allows stunning variegated yarn to shine, and its comfortable fit makes it easy to wear all summer long! The top is knit using a circular yoke style, starting with the neck ribbing. The yoke increases until the underarm, where it splits for sleeves and body. There is a simple purl ridge texture to add visual interest.
Yarn
For this design, I used Hedgehog Fibers Merino DK. It’s an incredibly soft 100% Merino 8ply yarn that is the perfect yarn for beginners. The yarn is smooth and glides over needles with amazing stitch definition, and the merino is oh-so-soft and beautiful in next to skin garments. There is a huge range of colours; variegated, tonals, speckles, so that you can choose one unique to you. I used the colour A Day in May which is a vibrant blend of pinks, yellows, blues, and purples.
Yarn my testers used include Premier Yarns Cotton Sprout.
